Real Wealth
Real Wealth
I preached this message in Tanzania, East Africa, 2007; but I had no recording and had to write it down from memory in my word processor.
Everyone wants to be wealthy. Some people go to great lengths to acquire wealth: some try to get high paying jobs; some steal from others; some try to get donations; but the problem with those methods is that the person is always trying to get.
God’s principles for wealth work the opposite that of mans’ ways; making or receiving large amounts of money will not make you wealthy; in fact it often makes you poor.
What is real wealth? Real wealth is Peace and Joy in your heart, and enough money to meet your need, and the needs of others.
People with large amounts of money have to have lock boxes, alarms, and all kinds of protective devices to keep other people from stealing it; fear and uncertainty in their hearts makes them very poor indeed.
People even in the very poorest places can be wealthy; even as much as people can where money is plentiful.
How can a person become wealthy? Jesus said that if we would seek His Kingdom and Righteousness: all our needs will be met; Jesus also said, Give, and it shall be given unto you; there we see that real wealth comes from seeking God’s Kingdom, righteousness, and from giving. Real wealth can never be obtained by focusing on our selves, or our needs.
Real wealth is when a people have the peace of God ruling in their hearts, and have enough to meet their own needs, and to give to others. Real wealth is when we focus on God, others, and not on ourselves. Wealthy people let God be the solution to their need.
We must start at first by giving our lives to God. We must be born again; then only can we enter the Kingdom where God’s principles work. The very nature of how we think has got to be changed: our old way of thinking of getting, getting, and getting must be changed to giving, giving, and giving.
People are not instantly wealthy; but always start out small. A poor widow woman came to Elisha, and said that she had debts, and no money to pay them off, and Elisha asked her what she had in her house? God always asks what you have, for everyone has something. God always multiplies what we have
The poor widow had only a pot of oil; but God multiplied it till she had enough to pay off her debts, and to meet all her needs.
You may have only a little money; some other possession; or maybe just the ability to do some work; whatever it is give it as a seed, and God will multiply it; we must think like farmers. When we give our lives to the Lord: we still have a lot of wrong ideas, motives, and habits; these all need to be corrected.
When we were saved: we may have been thieves, robbers, adulterers and we certainly looked after our own interests; but God gave us a new nature of Love, joy, peace, kindness, gentleness, goodness, even all the fruit of the Spirit.
We must develop our new nature, and crucify the old: we must now look after other people’s interests, and especially God’s interests. We must quit trying to please ourselves. We must first please God then others.
Sin: is when we try to please ourselves, and are looking after our own interests. Righteousness: is looking to God and doing what He says: God is our righteousness. Sin: is when we are focusing on ourselves; righteousness: is when we are focusing on God. Sin: is when we are living after the flesh; righteousness: is when we are living after the Spirit.
Sin, takes away our health, our peace, and makes us poor.
Walking in the Spirit: gives us health, peace and makes us rich.
Bill Gates has more money than the gross national product of the whole country of Tanzania for one year; yet if he has not the peace of God in his heart he is poor indeed: I would not trade the peace of God in my heart for one day, to have all his wealth.
God always takes the little we have, and turns it into much: Jesus took 5 loaves,a few fish, and fed 5000 men besides women and children, and had 12 baskets of leftovers; we serve the same God today, and He wants to do the same today, if He can just find people who will believe.
Our trouble is: we have been listening to the wisdom of this world so long; we have difficulty with, the supernatural wisdom of the supernatural God; when Jesus becomes our Wisdom, there is nothing we cannot do.
Jesus said that when we seek God’s Kingdom and righteousness, we will have everything that we need; because of this world’s wisdom, (which is only foolishness), it is so much easier to think; we can meet our needs in our own strength.
To seek God’s Kingdom and Righteousness: get up a little earlier in the morning than usual, read God’s Word, pray, seek God’s face, and then seek Him in all your daily activities. Take what little you have, and share it with someone: be it money, food, clothes, time, Love, compassion, mercy, grace, everyone has something to share.
When you meet with God in the morning: always surrender to His will; make it the number one thing that you do, and do it all day long.
I need to emphasize a point: it takes a living faith to move God’s hand; many Christians believe, but few know how to turn it into living faith. James says faith without works is dead; so when faith is alive it will have works.
When God says, give, and it shall be given unto you; you may believe, but until you give, it is not living faith. When you believe God has told you to do something, than start to do it in real surrender, always ready to change if God says, “You are going in the wrong direction”: you may have misunderstood.
You have to be engaged in doing what you believe God is telling you to do, if you are to walk by faith; but just in case it is presumption, always be ready to change at God’s slightest nudge.
In all your dealings with people: make sure God’s Love and Peace, are ruling in your heart. Try not to let anyone experience anything from you that does not contain God’s Love and Peace; also gentleness, goodness, and kindness should just flow right out of your nature.
In closing I will say that any people that practice these principles: will one day conquer the city, the state, the nation, even the whole world.
I believe the poorest of people or nations, can conquer the whole world.
