Morning Prayer
This is the second time I preached this message, the first time I preached it the recording was too bad to understand it: I believe I preached this version of it in Mwanza. I put this message into a word processor to make it more understandable and to add things I did not have time to preach at the time.

God wants you to meet Him in the Morning. The answers to all your problems are found in Jesus Christ; Jesus says that without Him we can do nothing; to have Jesus so operating in our lives, solving our problems, meeting our needs, and guiding us: we need to develop a very deep intimate relationship with Him, starting early in the morning. God has many things that He sends our way to teach us, to prepare us to fight, and for the work He has called us to do: all these things require us to develop a deep intimate knowledge of Jesus Christ; without which we cannot do anything.
The Israelites faced many troubles in Egypt: the Egyptians made slaves out of them; they made bricks; built cities for Pharaoh; and they could not get out of this problem. God sent Moses to deliver the Israelites, and after many miracles and judgments, God brought them out of Egypt; God led them by a pillar of cloud by day, and a pillar of fire by night, He brought them by way of the Red Sea. The Red Sea was before the Israelites; there were mountains on either side of them; and the Egyptian army was behind them.
I believe many times God’s people will not go forward, till they fear more what is behind them, than they fear the word of the Lord. The Israelites went through the sea on dry land, and the Egyptian army was close behind; but God looked at the Egyptians through the cloud in the morning watch, and troubled the Egyptians. Notice! The Lord looked at the Egyptians at the morning watch: this is also the way God works today; the key to our victory over our enemies, comes in the morning watch. God was the answer to the Israelites problem, by way of the morning watch.
God wants us to meet with Him before the distractions of the day begin. I do not know what a good or early time is for you; but in America it was about 3: 20 AM for me; but here I have different conditions, so it is later: you need to determine what is right for you. Do you want to be a successful, victorious, and an effective Christian? You need regular, daily, quality times with God; start with short times, and then add to them from time to time.
Exodus 14: 31, “Israel saw the great work which the Lord did upon the Egyptians: and the people feared the Lord, and believed the Lord, and His servant Moses”; and that was the answer to their problem.
Exodus 16: 14- 16, 21, “When the dew that lay was gone up, behold, upon the face of the wilderness there lay a small round thing, as small as the hoar frost on the ground; and when the Children of Israel saw it, they said one to another, it is manna: for they knew not what it was. Moses said unto the Children of Israel, this is the bread which the Lord has given you to eat, this is the thing which the Lord has commanded, gather of it every man according to his eating, an omer for every man according to the number of persons; take you every man for them which are in his tents”. “They gathered manna every morning, every man according to his eating: and when the sun waxed hot, it melted”.
The manna came every morning with the dew, and Jesus said He was that manna that came down from heaven: so we can see that He comes to us every morning with the dew, and those who get up early are the ones who find Him. Jesus needs to be sought, early in the morning before the everyday activities begin, but those who wait till the sun is hot, find He is melted away.
John 6: 51, “I am the living bread which came down from heaven: if any man eats of this bread, he shall live forever: and the bread that I shall give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world”. You need to understand that what you receive from your time with God will never pass away: bread left from yesterday is full of worms; but the effects of the bread (manna, Jesus) you eat are eternal.
It says that the manna was a small round thing, meaning, that it took a little time to gather enough for the needs of the day. When you get up to meet with the Lord: take enough time to get everything you need for the day. We need to gather new manna every morning, as today’s manna will be full of worms tomorrow: God never uses for tomorrow, what He gave for you to use today; so use it today and gather new for tomorrow: if you meet with God twice as long today, you will still have just enough for today.
Married people need to gather manna for themselves and for their household; but as their children get older they need to be taught to gather their own; you also need to get enough for the many people around here, who need to know the Lord.
Jesus said, except you eat my flesh and drink my blood you have no life in you. When you were born again the Life of Christ was put in your spirit; but if you want the life of Christ to be operating in your life during the day, you need to get it fresh every morning.
Many of the people all around you do not know Jesus, and they do not know what they are missing. Do you remember when you were not a Christian? Do you remember how bad things were? You had no peace in your heart: all you could do was try to survive, relieve your misery with fun, games, drugs, alcohol, and anything to get your mind off your problems for a few hours: yet everything you did for fun never lived up to what you were trying to achieve, and sometimes you were only more depressed.
I was in darkness for years and nothing I tried could give me peace, satisfaction, or happiness: I looked at the future and all I could see was Darkness, death, and despair; I had a hole in my heart so big, nothing I tried could fill it. When Jesus came into my life, and filled that infinite hole in my heart: I said no one is ever going to get me out there again.
You have people all around here who have the same miserable lives we had; they need for you to get as much of Jesus as you can, and share Him with them. Most Christians are basically wasting their lives away: everything in their lives are done to please themselves, and little is done to bring the gospel to the world around them. Many people around you are searching for something to give them peace and satisfaction and they do not know that those things can only be found in Jesus Christ.
Last year when we were here we went to many places all over town witnessing, and almost everyone we asked if they wanted to be saved, would say, yes: this place is open for the gospel, and we need to be about it before this door closes again.
11 Samuel 23: 3, 4,”The God of Israel said, the Rock of Israel spake to me, he that rules over men must be just, ruling in the fear of God, and he shall be as the light of the morning, when the sun rises, even a morning without clouds; as the tender grass springing out of the earth by the clear shining after the rain”. David wrote many psalms: and many of them about meeting with God in the morning; this one gives the qualifications of rulers; David wrote this psalm toward the end of his life.
David was king almost forty years, he spent much time in seeking after God, and even God testified that he was a man after His own heart. You can be sure that David faced many times very similar to what we face: when David was seeking after the Lord, I am sure he had many times when it seemed he could not get through; but great men like David are characterized by the fact that never give up: no matter what they face, they keep right on coming back the next morning, and doing it again; they will not be denied.
David could write about these qualifications: because he learned it by many revelations received in God’s presence. David said that a ruler must be just and fear God; no man can do that on his own: the power to do that must be found in God’s presence. When we were born again, we received the right to get into God’s presence; but until we actually get into God’s presence, we will never be able to do the work that He called us to do today.
Characteristics that I noticed in people, who do not get close to God is that they have almost no fear of God. The Israelites learned to fear God a little in crossing the Red Sea; but they were back to complaining only a few days later. I have noticed even in the church that many leaders rule over the people without fear; but the only way I will rule over God’s people is, by being a greater servant to them than they are to me.
Jesus said the princes of this world tell their servants, that they are ruling over them for their own good; but that is not going to happen in His Kingdom: many churches are operating completely outside of the Kingdom. There is no provision in God’s Kingdom for one of God’s people to lord it over another: we all need to be servants and subject one to another; if husbands and wives could learn this principle, much of the dissention in the home could be averted. We need to be terrified, to rule it over another member of the body of Christ: handle each other the way you would handle another man’s wife, this is God’s wife.
Children, the rebellious, and new born Christian need extra care; but just remember: you are a eunuch preparing the bride for her husband; don’t make the bride of Christ your own harem: she already has a husband.
If there is not enough fear of God in what you do; God may send an Egyptian army behind you with no way out, until you learn to fear God. For many years now, my greatest fear of God is that He might leave me to my own devises. Many people are not consulting God, and are making their own choices, and many of those die, taking little with them into heaven: that is terrifying to me; because God just lets them do it.
God has appointed to each of us a place of rulership; but until we rule over all, that is out of order in our own lives, we can never rule over what is out of order, outside of us. There are things inside of each of us that goes after the world, which gives us a tendency to sin: Paul calls it the flesh in Romans 7, and that within it, dwells no good thing. Your first job of rulership is to rule over the flesh: crucify it on the cross. When Cain and Able made a sacrifice: Cain’s was rejected and Able’s was accepted; Cain’s countenance fell: God asked Cain why his countenance had fallen? God said to Cain that sin was at the door, and that he was to rule over it.
All God’s people need to learn to rule over sin. Our problem is that sin is at the door and it wants to destroy us; unless we learn to rule over it, then it certainly will destroy us: God’s people seemingly do not know how serious this problem is. Almost everyone who has ever lived and died, died before their time had come. Romans 7 deals mostly with the Law of Sin and Death; but in Romans 8: 2, it says, “The law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the Law of Sin and Death: unfortunately very few Christians walk in the Spirit, and many do not even know how to; therefore the Law of Sin and Death kills virtually everyone before their time is up; God we must rule over it.
I hear people pray at times for God take away the sins that easily beset them; but God is not going to do it: He commanded you to rule over it. I also hear people pray for God to take away sickness out of their midst; but that is not going to happen either: God has given us the Law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus to make us free of it, and until we rise up and conquer sin, sickness, and disease it will conquer us and shorten our lives. I you are to learn to walk in the Spirit, and conquer your enemies: you will find Jesus is the source of all that we need; you will find Him early in the morning before the sun gets hot and melts Him away.
What I keep finding is that God’s people instead of fighting sin, sickness, and disease are making marriages with it: they have their doctors, insurance, and prayer meetings trying to get some ease from it; but those things have never prevented one shortened life. When God’s people learn to walk in the Law of the Spirit of Life in Christ Jesus continuously then the Law of Sin and Death will no longer be able to take their lives early.
11 Corinthians 10: 3- 6, Paul says we have mighty weapons of God to defeat these strongholds, and having in readiness to revenge all disobedience when our own obedience is fulfilled. There is a place of rulership for all of us; but we have to rise up and walk where God has called us to walk first.
Psalm 5: 1- 3, “Give ear to my words, O Lord, consider my meditation, and listen to the voice of my cry, my King, and my God: for unto you will I pray, my voice shall you hear in the morning. O Lord; in the morning will direct my prayer unto you, and will look up”. David points to the morning as the time to pray, his secret to success.
One of the most important things you can do when you meet with God is to surrender: until we surrender God will be greatly handicapped in what He can do with us. David made many mistakes and sins; but because he surrendered his life to God He did many things with him.
David asked God to consider his meditation: he thought on God’s word a lot; he knew the value of just meditation upon God’s word. We need to meditate a lot on God’s word: learn more about who God is, and what He wants to do with us here. God has many things He wants us to do. God wants to make us strong. God wants our lights to be shining.
When we surrender our lives to God it is like we said to Him, Lord this is your day. God tells us that this is our day; but the wise thing to do is to surrender it back to Him. There is a time coming called the Day of the Lord; when we surrender to the Lord: we enter the Day of the Lord now, and we will not be forced into it later. The Day of the Lord is like the cross: you can go voluntarily or you can be forced on it later: someone else makes the decisions for you.
Spend much time with God; surrender to His will; and let Him make out of you what He wants to. God Bless You folks, I enjoyed the time
